Struggling with your mental health this #BlueMonday? We’re here to help.

Did you know that experiencing crime can have a serious effect on your mental and physical health?

Depression, PTSD and anxiety can all affect a person who has experienced crime. With today being #bluemonday, we want to remind you that you’re not alone and we’re here to help and support you, when you’re ready.

We understand that seeking support can be a nerve-racking experience, however by not seeking support, you could be more likely to develop one of the above mental health issues.

A study by the Office of National Statistics looked into the affects of different types of crime and found that when it comes to a violent crime, 81% of victims reported feeling affected by the situation. Similarly, those affected by fraud experience a range of both short and long term affects on their mental health.

What was common was that from burglary to fraud, assault to bag snatching, people affected by crime reported anxiety symptoms for up to and over six months after the incident happened.

Seeking support can help

While long-term research is ongoing into exactly how seeking support affects a person months and year down the line, what’s clear is that seeking support more often than not helps reduce mental health illnesses.
