Subject Access Requests
There are a number of reasons that you may wish to request information from Voice for Victims and Witnesses.
If your request relates to evidence required for:
- Housing applications or support
- Civil or Family Court proceedings
- Legal Aid Applications
- To evidence that you have received support from Voice services
In this event, please contact us and your request will be considered.
In the event that we feel that your request may fall outside of the scope of a Subject Access Request then we will contact you. Subject Access gives you the right to see the personal data that Voice for Victims and Witnesses holds about you; this would not include third party data without express consent from that third party.
Forcing an individual to make a Subject Access Request is a criminal offence. If you have been asked to access this information by somebody else we will still provide you with a response but it is your choice as to whether or not you share your data with them. If this is the basis for your request and you now feel that there is no need to request this data, please let us know so that your request can be closed.
If you would like to discuss the purpose of requesting information, you are able to discuss this further by contacting us.
If you wish to make a Subject Access Request please contact us.
You will not need to pay a fee to access your personal information; it will be supplied to you free of charge. There will only be a fee in exceptional circumstances.
Voice for victims and witnesses is only able to disclose our owned information. Information owned by other agencies, including Northamptonshire Police cannot be disclosed and subject access request must be made directly to the agency concerned.
Once your request has been received, all information held and owned by Voice for Victims and Witnesses will be submitted for review. We will aim to provide a full written response within 30 days of receipt of your application.
A decision will be reached to approve or deny the request. If the request is denied you will be notified, however you may not be told the reason.
If the request is approved you will be notified and the requested information provided to you.
